Does having an irregular period mean that you are infertile or that it will be harder to get pregnant? Can you still ovulate?

In brief: Right track

Having irregular periods can mean that ovulations occur irregularly and thus the woman has a harder time to become pregnant.
It is a good idea, though, to have a health check and see if diseases of other organ systems interfere with regular ovulation, e.g,, the thyroid gland or the pituitary gland.

In brief: It depends

It depends how irregular you are.
Some women with very irregular periods are not ovulating and will have difficulty getting pregnant. Some variability in cycle length is normal. You can do a home ovulation prediction test to determine if you are ovulating or not. Or you can see your doc. Best wishes!
