Are hospital urine pregnancy test more accurate than at home pregnancy test?

Good question! Took some research. Both hospital and home urine pregnancy tests are very sensitive. Hospital tests are generally considered more reliable but this fact was disputed in an article in the journal of Clinical Chemistry January 2014 http://www.clinchem.org/content/60/4/667.full where false negatives were found in a high number of tests from 5-7 weeks of pregnancy. A blood HCG test is most accurate.

I had two periods in one month and a negative home pregnancy test and negative test at hospital. I can't be pregnant, right?

Well,.. Over the computer it is tough to say if you are or are not pregnant, BUT all the negative pregnancy tests would point against being pregnant as well as having two periods. If you have unprotected sex, especially around the time you ovulate, you are always at risk of being pregnant. See your family Doc or GYN and get a good physical and discuss your cycle issues. Good luck. Read more...

Is a first response early result pregnancy test more accurate then a dr. S office urine test? My home pregnancy test was pos but doc office was neg!

Not likely. No test is 100% accurate, unfortunately. I'd suggest waiting a week, repeating the home test, and if it's still positive, going back to your doctor's. If the doctor's office urine test is still negative, your doctor can order a blood test for pregnancy, which is more accurate. Read more...
