How often is a dilation eye exam recommended if no symptoms exist? Which one is better? Digital retina exam or dilated eye exam?

In brief: Depends

At your age, & depending on your eye health, a dilated exam every 3 years is probably sufficient.
For myopia yearly exams usually are desirable to check on prescription changes. My strong preference is for dilated exams with hi-powered diagnostic indirect lenses to evaluate the posterior part of your eyes. Digital retinal imaging exams (Retincam™) work for big pathologies, but not micro-detailed
