In brief: Plan B misuse

Unfortunately, Plan B is not designed to be a primary birth control method and is only useful AFTER unprotected intercourse has occurred.
A pregnancy test is your next step and if negative, a future more secure method of contraception.

In brief: Yes

plan B is not a contraceptive It is to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, not before! Sperm can be active 5 days ejaculation into the vagina.
Plan B may be effective if taken within 72 hours after sexual intercourse. Sperm enter the cervix immediately, so douching is not protective. Start your regular birth control right after taking Plan B.

Before starting your BCP, take a pregnancy test to confirm that you are not pregnant!!!
