I've read that statins may cause diabetes in some folks? So if a pt. is able to safely stop statins, is there a chance their blood sugar could drop?

In brief: Low risk

Statins do raise the risk of diabetes slightly, however you should not discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor, You may discuss using a different statin.
