How early can the rapid strep test detect the bacteria? Can it be done to soon and show a false neg result?

In brief: When you

are symptomatic it can be done.
If there is bacteria it will show . Doing it to soon is not a concern and will not give false negative.

But the rapid strep tests generally have a false negative rate of fro 1-3 out o10 depending on the test. All negative rapid strep tests should be followed up by a throat culture for strep. In fact this is mandatory at hospitals by federal guidelines.

Oops typo! "rate of from 1-3 out of 10", is what I meant to type.
