Mid back pain and ULQ/Epigastric pain for 3 Mos. Fatigue, tiredness, & trouble sleeping. Went to ER for severe pain 1 week ago, but blood work didn't show anything. Back pain bad today. Should I go to ER and insist they do more? My PCP won't help.

Find an MD who will. Severe back pain might be related to problems that won't show up on blood work. Make another appointment with your PCP or ask him for a referral to a back specialist. If you are getting no answers, but have a legitamate problem, you should seek another opinion. Read more...

Ct scan , ultrasound. need this to finalize diagnosis, or maybe laproscopy if gynecological problems,, may have ulcer so go to g.i. dr for endoscopy[scoping] since epigastric pain, try proton pump inhibitor for 1 month like prilosec. avoid much alcohol , never smoke. hope /pray it helps. be sure not constipated, use mirilax /colace, senna/dulcolax. chnag diet if so , less white flour products. The best diagnosticians for this constellation of symptoms are older & wise general surgeons. Imaging studies are needed and perhaps endoscopy. I took Prilosec for a few days for my acid reflux, but after a few days I got chest/back pain. Today, have fever and mid-back pain including fatigue.
