In brief: Lymph Nodes
Lymph nodes are soft bumps like tiny bb's that have chains throughout our body.
They are there to protect that particular area. The lump is only noteworthy if other symptoms like persistent fever, cough/congestion is worsening. If the lump is larger than a penny, red, hot & swollen-seek medical attention. Most will take up to 6 weeks to resolve! the lump is deemed to be "reactive" & not a problem.

In brief: Harmless
This sounds more like a lymph node.
Lymph nodes can become reactive with even minor infections. The rule of thumb is if they are small, mobile, flesh-colored and non-tender they are probably harmless. If the node changes acutely seek medical attention. Also a slightly enlarged node may stay enlarged for several weeks to months.
