My husbands pain dtr put him on something called exalgo 8mg in place of morphine due to an allergic reaction. The side effects r really scary. Any in?

Exalgo. All opioids have scary side effects- if you are scared of Exalgo you exhibit the same for morphine. Exalgo is designed for once a day use only. It has the same side effects and risks as any other opioid medication.
Read and Speak with. Go to the drug manufacturer's website and read as much as you can about this medication. Then speak with your doctor, who prescribed, about all your concerns. Write them down so you don't forget. If he/she doesn't answer your q's to your satisfaction sounds like it is time to get a new doctor.
Exalgo. He has substituted another strong opioid medication, hydromorphone for the morphine. He likely will not have a reaction if he is allergic to morphine, but all the other side effects of opioids, constipation, drowsiness, nausea, are possible. If you have concerns about the medication, or your husband has some side effects, discuss these with your doctor.
See below. All opioids have the same side effect profile including nausea, vomiting, sedation, itching. Do not let reading up on the drug scare you.
