In brief: HIgh potassium level

Factitious hyperkalemia (fh) is caused buy potassium (k) leaking from the intracellular space while taking a sample of blood.
Other causes are the rupture of red blood cells in the test tube which elevates k levels. Fh is seen with increased platelets in a person's blood. If you were not acidotic, and have a normal, for age, creatinine level, i suspect you had fh causing your high k reading.
