In brief: Thorough eval

A number of criteria must be met to make an accurate diagnosis of ADHD/ ADD.
It can present like other medical or mental conditions. A workup is necessary to ensure assessment is correct.

In brief: Adult ADHD

Fairly easy, after ruling out other medical/psychiatric conditions, through thorough history & screening tools.

In brief: Technically not very

Technically a diagnosis is not difficult for a treating provider to make by using DSM-5 criteria and requires a clinical history and perhaps further information from another person who can attest to this.
This diagnosis is fortunately/unfortunately more controversial than others within the field and the opinion of the provider you seek may affect a diagnosis more than any other factor.

my bad, title confusing. relatively easy to diagnose. Often, certain types of providers require "testing" before they are comfortable treating. this is a confusing term as it could mean many things. I would recommend working with a clinician with experience in treating adults with ADHD.
