The placenta is the tissue that grows inside the uterus and connects to a developing baby.

The function of the placent is to feed the fetus while in the uiterus and clear away the toxic biproducts.

In brief: Baby's lifeline.

The placenta is a medusa-like organ that constitutes the unborn infant's lifeline until birth - it is its lungs, kidneys, gut and endocrine organs all in one.
It is 50% maternal and 50% paternal in origin - but 100% fetal. We cannot fix the placenta when it is not working well - unfortunately.

In brief: Placenta

Placenta acts as a lung for baby's o2-co2 needs, acts as a kidney to get rid of wastes, is the only source for nutrition.
Placenta is like multiorgan system. Placenta saves baby from mothers antibody as baby is the foreign tissue for the mother. Placenta is a fascinating organ.
