May I take L-glutamine if I have high blood pressure? I want to take it after a work out. Currently taking lisinopril 20mg and atenolol 25mg

In brief: Maybe (not) . . .

Good news: I couldn't find any drug-drug interaction btwn L-glutamine, Lisinopril & Atenolol (http://www.
drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=273-0,3011-0,1476-0). Even better news: I couldn't find any reason not to take glutamine in those w/high blood pressure (http://www.drugs.com/mtm/glutamine.html). Still, it's best to monitor BP for several wks before starting glutamine. Then recheck on

Then recheck BP after starting L-glutamine. Always inform your family doc (or whoever is treating your high blood pressure) about any & all medications & dietary supplements (such as L-glutamine) that you take. BTW, atenolol is supposed to keep your heart from beating too fast so it might not be the best blood pressure lowering medication in competitive athletes. Again, discuss w/your family doc.
