Also, follow the instructions provided by your donor center. They most likely gave you a phone# to call if you should become ill 24-48 hours after donating. Contact them so a decision can be made regarding the safety of using your unit of blood, since many recipients are sick enough that catching a "cold" might cause them further harm.
