In brief: Usually eyedrops.

Pinkeye: conjunctivitis caused by 1)cold-type virus; both eyes, watery discharge, sore, light-sensitive.
Occurs in healthy people, treat with artificial tears or allergy drops. 2)bacterial, usually one eye, thicker discharge, contact lens wear, eyelid abnormality, older patients, systemic illness, treat with prescription antibiotic drop. Both: remove contacts, see doctor if vision is blurry.

In brief: Pink eye

Treatment is dependent on the cause.
Viral, bacterial, allergic and inflammatory are all different. Getting an exam while you have the pink/red eye as well as the associated symptoms will help with your being prescribed the proper treatment.
