In brief: Pain & Depression

Chronic pain has a very high association with depression.
How are you sleeping? Are you able to exercise in water? And, the are other treatments available. See your doctor and a psychiatrist.

In brief: Pain specialist

Chronic low back pain can be very difficult to treat, especially when there isn't any obvious anatomic cause.
Chronic pain is still not well-understood. Also, like with many kinds of chronic pain, opioids may make worse long-term. A pain specialist can offer you many types of treatment to help improve your quality of life. Best of luck!

In brief: Pain Treatment.

Chronic low back pain requires an assessment by a specialist who is appropriately trained to treat low back pain.
This may include a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist or a pain medicine specialist. If medications have already been tried additional measure may include short term osteopathic, physical therapy, or chiropractic treatments. Spinal injections may be helpful as well.

In brief: Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain can be from multiple etiologies.
The number one cause of chronic lower back pain is muscle imbalance. This can be improved by proprioceptive training of the muscles by performing balance exercises and strengthening abdominal muscles . Other causes are types of dysfunctions known in the osteopathic world as "somatic dysfunction" and can be corrected by an osteopathic physician.
