How can you avoid developing poor sleep habits if you travel internationally a lot?

Try to avoid napping. As a physician that has traveled on over 60 medical relief missions, I have had my share of experience adjusting to new time zones! I try and get my mind in the local time zone as soon as possible. Set your watch to the local time zone and try not to think about what time it is "back home". Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol on the flight. If you have a lot of trouble sleeping, melatonin may help!
