In brief: Depends

Depends on severity and duration.
We all have pains due to strains and sprains. However if low back pain continues and gets worse it can be related to more serious conditions, such as facet joint arthritis, disc herniation or may arise from other sources, for instance the kidney stones.

In brief: Maybe

It depends on how long it has been there.
Does the pain go down your leg? I would start with rest and moist heat. If it persists more than a few days see your pcp. Nsaids and muscle relaxers may be all that you need.
