Are inflammed eyes a sign of infection elsewhere in the body ( I don't have conjunctivitis)?

In brief: Not necessarily

Unless you have an abscessed tooth, or have a cavernous sinus issue in which the eye can be involved.
Routinely, the answer would be, 'No'. Have your PCP involved to checking this out for you in person. Nothing beats an in person office visit. Good luck!

In brief: Possible

But this can be due to a myriad of causes.
If it continues suggest that you see your doctor and let them take a look.
