In brief: Good question

If you will reliably wear a removable retainer, the advantage is nothing bonded to your teeth making flossing difficult or irritating your gums.
If you don't wear it, however, it will not do you any good. The bonded ones take your compliance away as a consideration but they can cause those difficulties. Please make sure if you get a boned one, that it isn't right on your gums because that's troubl

In brief: Pros and cons

There are pros and cons to both, so it really is up to you.
But to make an informed decision, your orthodontist should take the time to explain everything to you. Much more info than can be fit into 400 characters in this box.

In brief: Permanent Retainer

A permanent retainer is ideal for patients who want to “get it and forget it.
Once your dentist places a permanent retainer in your mouth, you won't need to worry about losing it or not wearing it as often as you should. It is recommended seeing your dentist while wearing a retainer for checkups and cleanings to ensure that you don't develop any problems. Good luck.

In brief: Fixed, but

Fixed is y0ur best bet because it requires no compliance with wearing a removable retainer, losing it, etc.
BUT, you will have to be compliant with the extra efforts required to clean under and around the wire. The wire holds the teeth well. However, you also need to realize that there will be that extra material behind the teeth . Discuss with your Orthodontist. Good Luck.
