Does a runny nose, sore throat, and cough with sputum/phlegm sound like COPD or more likely just a common cold? I seem to get sick every couple months
Not COPD. There are a number of things that can cause the symptoms you describe. This winter here in the Midwest has been cold and dry, and those environmental factors can aggravate your upper airway. At your age, you don't have COPD. My guess is you've had a tough winter season. Any other concerns, see your physician.

Besides . Besides taking other the counter (otc) cough and cold medications, some things you can try at home would be the use of a humidifer or cool mist vaporizer. This will help mainly with your nasal symptoms. Warm tea with lemon or ginger can help soothe a sore throat ot hoarse voice along with warm salt water gargling. Remember plenty of rest is also key, and don't forget to drink lots of fluids. If you feel like your symptoms are worsening or prolonged, a trip to your doctor may be necessary. Read more...
