Does strep always cause a sore throat? 2 kids in my house have strep throat, I think I see some swelling and whitish patches but no pain in my throat.

In brief: Strep throat

Great question! Streptococcal bacteria lives in our throat.
When it becomes the predominant organism then we get pain as the immune system and the bacteria fight a war. There are some people that have strep in their throat all the time and they cohabitate in other words they are carriers are no signs of disease - Not treated. Evidence of disease is the redness, the white patches and the pain.
