In brief: Frequent Sex
Although sometimes people say to try to time sex around the time of ovulation, that can be difficult and stressful.
It is easier to have sex every other day starting after your period ends. And equally effective.

In brief: Sex every other day
Ideal time to have sex is 1-2 days prior to ovulation.
If not exactly sure when ovulation takes place, may consider using urinary ovulation predictor kits or have sex every 1-2 days during week ovulation is predicted. If not pregnant after 1 year (6 months if woman greater than 35 years old) or if woman has irregular menses, then consult with one's ob/gyn or fertility specialist for an evaluation.
