Sharp pain around top of left breast around chest... but not not on it. Have felt for lumps but none there. Any ideas?

Some possibilities. If your breast examination was normal, this discomfort could be due to an irritated/inflamed chest wall muscle or could be due to a pinched intercostal nerve which runs between two ribs and may increase with a deep breath and often radiates around the side of the rib cage. A muscular discomfort usually has associated tenderness. Your physician can advise you after an examination if it persists.

I started getting sharp pain on top left side of left breast under armpit. It comes and goes every 2hrs but very sore. Any idea of what this may be?

Injury/cyst/stress. While often breast pain is cyclic and related to the menstrual cycle, what you describe is not. Sometimes a sharp pain is the result of an injury/contusion that you don't recall. Cysts and fibroadenomas (benign) can develop and grow, pressing on nerves. Stress may cause tension in nearby muscle groups. This can be watched for a week or so if there is no lump. Use heat/ibuprofen. If persists, to Doc. Read more...

If it's in the axilla it's likely an infection such as a boil or abscess. In order to make a diagnosis and treat the condition you would have to see a physician. Read more...

It could also be a sign of infection. If you are feverish or if the breast pain is unbearable then please see your trusted health care provider. If your symptoms are tolerable you may wait for a day or so to see if you improve. Read more...

Pain in the inframammary crease is associated with fibrous mastopathy due to fluid pressure within the ductal system of the breast. One must, if not already performed within the past 6 months to year have a mammographic exam. Read more...
See MD. Sometimes a small lump cannot be felt, but can be picked up on mammography. It's always best to be safe than sorry, so it's better to find out before a lump appears. I don't know your age, but if you are young it could be fibrocystic syndrome also, but this is best determined by your doctor after a thorough history and physical. Read more...
