Anal spasms near sphincter. Had sphincterotomy and botox treatment. Did not work. Spasms do not stop. 3 colorectal docs don't know what to do.

Serial Dilation. Recurrent anal spasms can be a worrisome problem, but there are multiple medical and surgical treatments that are available. It is very important to be cautious in proceeding with surgery in this situation, because aggressive surgical therapy can result in a poorly functioning anal sphincter which can lead to incontinence or leaking. Ask your colorectal surgeon about serial dilations.
