Had a symptom for diabetes, doctor told me to get a random blood sugar test for glucose. My doctor told me my blood work was fine. Are random blood sugar test accurate to diagnose diabetes?

In brief: Not ideal

There are multiple tests for diabetes but preferred are fasting glucose and hemoglobin A1c levels.
Generally, these are tested on two separate occasions to confirm the diagnosis unless the numbers are way out of range. Non-fasting glucose with symptoms suggestive of diabetes can be reliable. Take care.
