In brief: Totally random

Apart from a couple of curious genetic diseases and the increased risk in an undescended testis, testicular cancer strikes young men totally at random. Exercise really doesn't protect against any cancer, and in fact one retrospective study suggested an increased risk -- men who'd lost a testis exaggerated their past athletic accomplishments.
