In brief: 1 year = time to:

1) wean from bottle to 2 cups of whole milk with meals.
Up to 5 oz. more of milk products is ok. Start a weighted, double-handled cup at 10 mos. & he'll hold it himself by 12 mos. 2) Brush his teeth 2x/day & before bed & have the 1st pediatric dentist visit. 3) Avoid ad-lib use of a Sippy cup with milk, juice or other sugars.4) Give water between meals. 5) Limit juice to 0-4 oz./day from a cup

Dr. Cox's answer is for up to a year. Many moms choose to continue breastfeeding-Know that weaning becomes more difficult at 15 mos. & >. The point is to avoid prolonged or frequent contact of teeth with sugar, day or night. Excessive milk intake can cause iron-deficiency anemia which can cause developmental delays, constipation & decreased appetite. See healthy children.org. for diet tips.

In brief: Usually 4 8

oz bottles a day or a total of 32 oz a day as a guideline.
This can vary but leaves room to add solids to the diet. All the best.
