Red part of lip, and itchy!!! Never had a cold sore, could I have one now? No blisters but dry lips! Not swollen

No. A "cold sore", herpes simplex type 1, will evolve from tingling to tiny blister to raw spot to scab. Heals in 1 or 2 weeks. For dry, irritated lips, try chapstick, vaseline, Aquaphor, etc. Apply several times a day. Avoid licking and rubbing. Read more...

My gf had a cold sore on her lips for more a month is it herpes? Becsuse I knew herpes sore heals completly after 14 days max

Stress. Those are caused by a herpesvirus, usually herpes simplex-1 virus. These blisters, which are highly contagious, may appear along with colds, fevers, exposure to excessive sunlight, certain medications, during menstruation or illness, but stress is probably the biggest trigger. Most of the time the virus will lie dormant in the body, but it can quickly come to life when your immune system is weak. Read more...

If I used chapstick on my lips while I had a cold sore is it safe to keep using it after the sore is gone or should I throw it away?

Should be immune. If a cold sore is freshly oozing, there are lots of viruses there. If it hasn't broken open, or has already scabbed over, there is less chance of viral transmission... to other people who have not caught herpes yet. But, if a person already has herpes, she has immunity to that strain of herpes and should not be able to catch it again. She gets recurrent sores from herpes hiding inside her nerves. Read more...

I kissed somebody on the cheek (cheek to cheek) and I noticed afterwards that he had a cold sore on his bottom lip. What are the chances of me getting?

Probably low risk. Herpes isn't all that easy to transmit. The brief contact you describe is very low risk, even if his cold sore contacted your cheek. Also, many adults have had HSV1 from childhood, the cause of oral herpes, whether or not they have had known symptoms. If you were previously infected, you can't catch it again. Be on the alert for oral or facial blisters/sores in next 10 days, but very unlikely. Read more...
