Had the flu in December which turned to bronchitis. Treated for bronchitis but still have lingering cough. How can I get rid of the cough?

Time and Rx? When was the last time you had a follow up appointment with your doctor?Have they given you cough suppressants like benzonatate (Tessalon) that you can take with OTC guaifenesin which works well for a lot of people and is non-sedating.If it's so bad you can't work or function well or sleep there's the possibility of codeine at night but that's a discussion for your doc.Time is the ultimate factor.

I had the flu the past week but I can't get rid of this cough! Sometimes it's dry sometimes mucus! Now I have hard bump on roof of mouth!

Stubborn symptoms. This is probably a result of having the flu recently. Sometimes when people are sick their immune symptoms become taxed and are susceptible to other viruses/bacteria taking over. You could also have a respiratory virus in addition to the flu causing the cough or it could be from invading normal oral bacteria during your illness. If your symptoms worsen over the next week see a doctor. Read more...
