The fetal heart rate is normally between 110 and 170 beats per minute.
In the early first trimester (less than 7 weeks) it may be lower than 110 - but by 8 weeks it should be 110 or more. An active fetus will have a higher heart rate and a sleeping or inactive fetus will have a lower heart rate. Male and female fetal heart rates are in the same ranges - so the heart rate doesn't indicate the sex.
