In brief: Hurts the liver

The liver makes 6 blood clotting factors: i (fibrinogen), ii (prothrombin), iv, v, vi, vii.
If even one decreases, prothrombin time (pt) will increase, meaning liver synthesis function decreases. In any acute liver cell disease, if prolonged pt indicates severe liver cell death--and danger! the bruising is due to unrepaired under-the-skin blood leakage.
