Will osgood schlatter disease last your whole life?

No. It occurs when you are growing due to inflammation and stress at a growth plate on the insertion of the patellar tendon.
Usually not... Osgood schlatter is usually seen in adolescents, and most symptoms resolve as you age. If you are experiencing pain into adulthood then see a physician to see if you may have a secondary issue that may be causing pain in a similar way. Patella tendonitis/ tendonosis, meniscal pathologies, patella femoral syndrome, and others may cause pain in the front of knee near the tibial tublercle.
