High triglycerides (tg) and low hdl-c are markers for high LDL particle number (ldl-p).
As tg goes up, ldl-p rises. However, when tg is high the amount of cholesterol carried by LDL particles (ldl-c) goes down. Thus, your true LDL level (ldl-p) is commonly higher than ldl-c. This is common in patients with high sugar. An ideal ldl-p is < 1000.
