In brief: Best way

The best way to treat fungal nails is starting with cutera genesis nail laser treatment x 3.
Apply formula 3 topical 2x a day. Purchase and apply all shoe gear to a steri shoe. Finally if an athelets foot is involved then an anti fungal 2x a day.

In brief: Several treatments.

The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time.
I've seen natural oil remedies work, but very rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them.

In brief: Consult doctor

Toenail fungus often accompanies poor circulation to the toes, from diabetes or from vascular disease.
Treating the underlying cause is best. Oral antifungal pills take a long time to work & require periodic tests of liver function because they can damage liver severely. Soaking the toes in dilute bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) followed by thorough rinsing with water may help.
