In brief: Physical Therapy
Depends on what your physician advised you to do.
Many patients benefit from modalities which can be administered at physical therapy such as iontophoresis. Topical inflammatory medicine can also be useful. If all else fails, some people may be candidates for arthroscopic surgery to treat the condition.

If it is indeed jumpers knee (infrapatellar tendinitis), there is a procedure called Tenex which is minimally invasive ultrasonic debridement of diseased tissue. Very good outcomes.

In brief: Many options
There are many components to completely resolve jumpers knee-aka patellar tendonitis.
Besides anti- inflammories (for an acute problem, not for long term management), a patellar tendon strap, ice, and physical therapy (to address the factors that caused it), other treatments for chronic pain are on the horizon. Nitro patches and prp are experimental, but are being used for refractory cases.
