Will pregnancy tests read positive when one is on birth control?

HCG & BCP. The pregnancy test measures HCG which is produced by an implanted embryo. The test only becomes positive about 12 days after ovulation. The hormones of the bcp do not mask a pregnancy, so if you are pregnant then the pg test will be positive. It is possible that if you do not have menses on the bcp (some women do not bleed) then you may not realize that you are pregnant or when to test. Good luck.
If pregnant. The pregnancy test may read positive if you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests measure for beta-hcg, which is secreted by a fertilized egg and later by the placenta. Birth control is not 100% effective, and the possibility does exist that you may be pregnant. Check with your ob/gyn or family doctor to be certain.

Unlikely. If a correctly done pregnancy test was negative at 5 weeks after sex, you are not likely to be pregnant. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. Took two pregnancy tests but having a lot of symptoms. Also, first month of birth control?

What's question? You don't really say what your question of concern is here. I get the feeling you are wondering if you are pregnant. If the two tests you took are past the due date for your period and were negative, you are not likely pregnant and need to look into other reasons for your symptoms. If really not convinced, ask doctor to do blood test to rule out pregnancy. Read more...

Contraception. Jolviette is a progestin only birth control pill. I am not clear if had sex without using birth control. If that is the case, repeat the pregnancy test in a week. It can take a few months for your cycle to be regular again, so it is less likely that you will become pregnant right away. However, some women report increased ovulation after going off the pill, resulting in multiple births. Read more...

I'm on birth control and have missed 2 periods. Pregnancy tests all say negative. What is going on?

Perimenopause. Menses occur with the normal hormonal cycling associated with ova-follicle development in the ovary, and endometrium proliferation and then shedding. As the number of available ova decline or are exhausted, the hormonal shifts are blunted or change and menses become irregular until they ultimately stop. Age of onset of menopause can vary widely. OCAs can prevent ovulation, but they don't delay age. Read more...
