The first step to treating a sprained ankle is to decrease the inflammation (rest, ice- 15 mins on/off), compression, elevation).
Avoid painful movements/activities. Brief course of anti- inflammatories ok. Arnica may be useful, not fda approved, so take at your own risk. After ankle sprain, risk of re-sprain is very high without proprioceptive retraining- ask your doctor for physical therapy !
