In brief: Depends on area

Sometimes the dental implant can be placed at the time of extraction if the site has sufficient bone to engage an implant and there is no infection and sometimes the extraction site has to be grafted with bone (and connective tissue as well) and the implant placed after the site has healed.
Each case is decided on an individual basis on what is best for the patient and will have the best results!

In brief: Implant

Depends on if the doctor who extracted your tooth also grafted in preparation for a dental implant.
If so 3-6 months.

In brief: Same day

Often an implant can be placed the same day.
Depends on many conditions. If the tooth has been extracted, it depends on the site, whether bone grafting was done and how much bone is present as well as the contour of the bone and tissue. All else being equal, the socket needs to heal 3 - 4 months to allow for the bone to fill in and mature. It must be ready to grow new bone again.

In brief: It depends

It depends on the diameter of the tooth and whether you had a bone graft.
Some can be done immediately. Some patients need to wait four months.

In brief: 8 weeks

The area needs to heal and the bone to fill in to the area where the tooth was removed, this takes 8 weeks or more.

In brief: Depends

Many different factors in order to decide when to place an implant after extraction.
Was the tooth infected? How infected was it? Was the area grafted after extraction? What tooth was removed, a single rooted tooth or multiple rooted tooth? As a general rule it's always better to place implant the same day of extraction.

In brief: Depends

If it was a simple extraction then normal socket healing takes about 4 months.
If there was infection, it hopefully was thoroughly cleaned out. I graft most sockets to preserve bone volume & re-enter at about 4-6 months for implant placement.

For most extractions, especially simple ones, implants can often be placed the same day, avoiding the extra cost of "bone grafting", and the time and expense of a second surgery. Even "difficult" extractions are often implantable. The clinician's judgment, expertise and current competence play a large factor.

In brief: Implant placement

Depends on the condition of the extracted tooth and the surrounding bone .
If there is no infection and the extraction was done without affecting the surrounding bone the implant can be placed at the same visit. If any of the above conditions are present it might be a good idea to clean the socket place a bone graft and wait 3 to 6 months for the placement of the implant

In brief: Depends on site

If an infection was present when the tooth was removed, you will need to wait for the infection to resolve.
Sometimes, the implant and extraction can be done at the same time. Also, it depends on whether or not socket bone grafting was performed. If not, you may need to wait 4-5 months for the socket to heal first. If bone was placed, i'd say 8-10 weeks.

In brief: Ask the surgeon

In most cases we need to wait 2-4 months prior to placing the dental implant.
This is a bit of a journey but it is well worth it.

In brief: Infection?

If the site is not infected and the remaining bone amount can give a provide good stability for the implant, implant can be placed immediately.
Otherwise, grafting may be necessary and the time waiting would be 4-6 months. Most of the time grafting is not required.

In brief: 6-8 weeks

You should give the area six to eight weeks to repair and heal itself.
This way the gum tissue will be healthier.
