In brief: Herbal medicines
Presuming this is an acute sore throat, these are usually viral & thus antibiotics won't help (if you have a fever and fairly swollen glands it could be strep or another bacterial infection, which can be helped by antibiotics).
My favorite treatments for sore throats are herbs, especially pelargonium sidoides & andrographis. Propolis, made by bees, also helps. See my comment for links & more.

Gargling with salt water &/or hydrogen peroxide may help too. I also advise Vit C & zinc lozenges. Homeopathy may help. If the pain is severe and you don't have a runny nose that increases liklihood it's a bacterial infection. Info on pelargonium (sold as Umcka): http://data.SchwabeNorthAmerica.com/common/artifactdocument/ITI-Pelargonium-Sidoides-Extract.pdf See next comment for additional info!

More info on andrographis: http://www.positivehealth.com/article/ayurveda/andrographis-the-ayurvedic-remedy-for-boosting-immunity Even if your infection is bacterial, it is possible that the andrographis could treat it. However, if you try natural therapies and do not improve within a few days, or if you know you were exposed to strep, it would be wise to see your doctor.

In brief: Several thing
Soft diet 3. Gargle with warm salt water 4. Humidifier or vaporizer if these things do not help, or your throat pain worsens, see your doctor to make sure you do not have strep throat or another illness requiring medication.
