Can medical doctor prescribe adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine)? I was given Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) several years ago it made me think clearer and lost weight my psychiatrist won't do it

Any md can prescribe any medication they feel competent to use .
Obviously your psychiatrist does not feel it is an appropriate wt loss strategy.I would have to agree.

Physicians can prescribe Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) if there is a medical indication & the risks are outweighed by potential benefits.
If you don't have a formal diagnosis of add/adhd your physician may not be willing to prescribe it. There are other options beside stimulants if you have add or adhd.
