Can I take 1mg of melatonin with 5 mg of zolpidem tartrate?

You could, but why? You probably could, but why would you want to? Taken occasionally, zolpidem is a good medicine for help with falling asleep (but not staying asleep). Melatonin has minimal effects on sleep (it does help change the circadian rhythm). For long-term use, medicines like zolpidem are not that great an idea. If the cause cannot be found, medicines like trazodone or Doxepin might be better.
