Rest, ice, time
It depends a bit on what muscle is injured, and the severity of the injury.
However, the general treatment for a pulled muscle is rest, ice (20 min on, 20 min off, several times a day), anti-inflammatory medicine (i.e., Motrin
) and elevation
(if there is swelling). As the pain starts to subside, you should perform some gentle stretching exercises. Time to recovery may be 6-8 wk or more.
