Following an injury I had 2 weeks ago, i've had persistent dull pain on the lower end of my forearm (side facing body). X ray shows nothing. Ideas?

In brief: Soft tissue injury
Much would depend on what type of injury you had i.
E did you bang it, twist it, pull it etc.. ? X-rays only show injury to bones, so injuries to ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves will not show up. A good history and exam by a hand surgeon will tell a lot. If needed an MRI could help with the diagnosis of soft tissue injuries. Best of luck.

The fact that an x-ray is normal only tells you so much. There are many injuries that won't show on a regular x-ray. And there are some injuries that won't show on the initial x-ray but will show up later. So you should get checked out. A fall from a bike can be a fairly high energy injury.

In brief: X-rays can be wrong
Some fractures, especially in this location, do not show up immediately on x-ray.
If it still hurts, especially in the hollow just above where your thumb takes off from your hand, you should have it x-rayed again. Meanwhile, wear a splint.
