Can you elaborate on what the process is called, when you extract sperm from a man who has had a vasectomy? Is it a common procedure?

TESE. Testicular sperm extraction. Done on the day of ivf retrieval. Under local anesthesia I take a small piece of tissue from the testicle. It is processed by the embryologist at the ivf facility where the egg harvesting is done for the female partner. It takes 5-10 minutes to do. I work in close collaboration with the ivf facilities as timing is very crucial. Not all urologists do it.
