In brief: Any age

A stroke can occur at any age when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted.
Although more common with advancing age, diabetes, drug abuse, and penetrating neck injuries are examples of reasons for stroke in a younger age group.

High BP, High Cholesterol , Hyper coagulability are a few more reasons. Healthy living: regular exercise, maintaining healthy weight and annual health check is good way to prevent stroke

In brief: Elderly . . .

Old age is typically defined as 10yrs older than my/your current age.
So common age for stroke is in older folks. However, a recent study suggests that risk for stroke in younger patients is increasing due to great risk factors as we are not taking good care of ourselves. These risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity & smoking, etc. Go see your family doc.
