Following c-section had ++ difficulty having bowel movement for months. Often had to push perineum in order to push stool back out to rectum. Normal?

This would cause the problems you are describing as well as some urinary symptoms like leaking or incomplete bladder emptying. These most often "self-correct" within 6-8 weeks after delivery.
