In brief: Maybe

If you have vein disease, which is a problem with your vein valves allowing blood to reflux backward in your legs, then correcting your vein problem problem and wearing support socks may correct your vein cramping at night.
Otherwise you need to check with your family doctor or internist to find the cause of our leg cramps. Sometimes herbal meds can help some symptoms of leg cramping.

In brief: Don't forget veins

As dr. Isobe mentioned, venous insufficiency is a very common cause for leg cramps and is frequently overlooked.
Vein trouble is actually a much more common cause of cramping than lack of calcium, magnesium, and potassium . Often the veins that are causing the trouble can't be seen very well at the surface of the skin. If you are having troulbe with leg cramps, see a vein specialist.

Seeing a vein specialist is important. If you have venous insufficiency causing your symptoms, the symptoms can often be controlled with use of compression stockings.

In brief: Not very easily

Muscle cramping comes on because it is irritated: standing/working long hours, heavy exercise, swelling, etc.
Try different things: icing the muscles after heavy exercise, stretching exercises, checking out the venous system in your legs to see if you have venous insufficiency.

In brief: Nocturnal leg cramps

Avoid dehydration and unless medical reason not to use, try magnesium supplmenets 400-800mg.
This is over the counter. You could try to increase intake through food which may be helpful.
