In brief: Red or bruised?

It is very normal for a scar to remain red (hyperemic) for several months or even years after an injury.
However it is abnormal to remain bruised and may suggest a vascular malformation or hematoma or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hemosiderosis. You may want to discuss with a dermatologist.

In brief: Probably ok

Bruising can take months to improve as it indicates trauma to the tissues (bleeding within the tissues).
You will notice evolution of the wound -changing colors while healing. If the bruising last particularly long- a coagulation disorder could rarely be the cause. See you primary care for details.
