In brief: Hernia

or possibly enlarged lymph nodes.
See a surgeon or PMD to clarify and receive a diagnosis.

In brief: Hernia vs not hernia

If it's a hernia, lump will fade away when you lay down with your knees bent; return when you cough, strain or heavy lift.
If lump stays the same with position changes, it could be lymph node, pulled muscle, or bruise. Hernias stay the same or get worse, as they are the hole. The lump is an organ trying to escape through the hole. The hole/hernia should be surgically repaired.

In brief: Possibilities

Without a thorough history and an examination of the groin and the leg, it is not possible to tell.
A list of possibilities include, but are not limited to, an enlarged lymph node, a hernia like inguinal or femoral, an infection such as an abscess or a cyst, a benign mass like a lipoma, or a cancer such as melanoma or lymphoma.
